A dedicatory organ recital featuring guest artist Haig Mardirosian will be the opening event in the 2008 - 2009 Concerts at St. Peter's season. The recital, marking the dedication of the renovated St. Peter's pipe organ, will be presented on Sunday, October 19, at 4:00 pm.
The guest artist for the dedicatory recital, Haig Mardirosian, has been a concert organist for 42 years and has performed in many of the most important concert venues throughout North America and Europe. He has over a dozen commercial recordings to his credit including well known and respected performances of the organ works of Bach, Brahms, Liszt, Petr Eben, and Jean Langlais. He records for Centaur Records and other labels.
As composer, conductor, and organist, Mardirosian has been heard on WDR, the BBC, Belgian Radio, the Voice of America, ABC-TV, National Public Radio, American Public Radio, PBS as well as a large number of local outlets. This broadcast work includes important broadcasts from the famed Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University.
A St. Peter's Advent tradition will continue with presentation of the 18th annual Messiah Sing-Along at 7:30 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2008. The Sing-Along will be presented by the St. Peter's Adult Choir, with soloists and chamber orchestra, conducted by Don Witman.
An entertaining afternoon of song will be featured on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 4:00 pm, when an ensemble of St. Peter's singers presents "Songs to Chase the Winter Away."
St. Peter's youth will take center stage March 27 - 29, 2009 with the presentation of the biannual St. Peter's youth musical. This year's production will be Narnia.
The final event of the 2008 - 2009 season will be a concert presented by the St. Peter's Choirs on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 4:00 pm.
Admission to these Concerts at St. Peter's events is free. Donations at the door are gratefully accepted to help defray the costs of presenting Concerts at St. Peter's, and St. Peter's Youth Productions.
